    Exclamation overheating message while charging

when i have my treo charging sometimes i have music playing and it does tend to get pretty hot and then i get a message a couple hours later (still charging and playing music) that the device is over heating and that it wont charge any more right now. I dont know the exact message but it is something like that. has this happened to anyone else? also what are problems with this? will it do any long term damage?

This is very common and not something to overly concern oneself with. The message though, I have not seen it. You might consider reducing your usage somewhat. Though with a "few" years of living with the warmth factor, I have not had any problem. As a note, if the battery gets too hot, the battery itself may be defective.

Happens to me sometimes when using Palm GPS in the car while plugged into the car charger. Tricks I have found to prevent this in sequence of prevention to final solution:

    1. Keep phone out of sun (especially on back side)
    2. Remove any cases you have for the phone (allows it to breath easier)
    3. Remove batter cover (really allows it to breath easier)
    4. Hold back of phone to Air Cond outlet (on car of course, this will clear the over-heat in about 1 minute or less).

Quirky but it doesn't happen that often for me and the work-arounds aren't that difficult.
