Default PDA SMS 2000 Allowance

Wow, just found this out by scanning the net, but if you've got the Treo 700w, you can call Verizon and ask them to add the PDA SMS 2000 Allowance (code #70246 if they can't find it). This will give you up to 2000 SMS messages from Wireless Sync without cutting into your regular TXT message allowances! Hope this helps someone like it helps me

From what I was told, you still have to have a TXT messaging plan if you want to use regular text messaging....can anyone confirm or deny this?

Default quickie

is that only from wireless sync?

Is there an unlimited sms plan?

My frustration is I used to have unlimited data and sms on tmobile and switched to vzw to enjoy evdo on the 700w.

how can I get around sms costs? does vzw charge for emailing the phone directly? phonenumber@vtext.com ?

Thanks for all your assistance.

i don't think there's any way to get around the SMS cost if you're talking about texting a person...from what I was told, the PDA SMS 2000 Allowance will work for the text messages generated from native applications like Wireless Sync...so if you've got 1000 Text Messages (which is $9.99), the only time any of those 1,000 messages will be taken away are when you send or receive a text message - but not when Wireless Sync initiates the message. I think verizon also has other text messaging bundles, but I don't think they have unlimited........personally, i've never been able to use more than 1000 in a month.

Hope this helps

Thanks, that answers all my questions.

What is the cost to sms someone that is outside the US? I usually email them directly to get around that.

I guess in my previous post, I desired to keep evdo running so I can receive and send over EVDO, I've heard of this before done on Tmobile but I was luckily enough to have unlimited.

https://vtext.rsgo.net/vtext/txtintl...txtintl_nav_li

That has info on the international rates for you....

As far as the T-Mobile thing, I believe they patched that loophole a while ago about being able to send over their GPRS data network...I had a BlackBerry (ducks and waits for rotten tomatos to be thrown), and even though you set the Send over GPRS option, it was still billed as a text message and sent over GSM.

I know VZW goes up to 5,000 txt messages on their plans...but can't remember 100%

Is is a free add on, however you have to get the 2000 free SMS messages or your Unlimited Text messaging to other Verizon users. You can't get both.

The only down side to getting the 2000 SMS is that you can't send your Photo Messages. If you don't do that often, you can save yourself $5 or $10 a month depending on which Text plan you have.

You WILL have to give them the code mentioned above because the lady I called had no clue what I was talking about. I gave her the code and she wen "Oh, here it is..."
