Hmmm... there is the new Palm TX.

Do you want WM OS or pOS on your PDA? In either case any mid to high end PDA will do everthing and in some cases do more than a Treo will do, everything that is except be a phone. For Treo Palm Treo users and soon to be WM Treo users we want the form factor and convergence of one device. I have owned a wide range of pda's including HP hx4705 and that does everything you want and you can add a CF GSM card and make it a phone if you really wanted to.
So what do you want a PDA to do for you?

I just picked up an HP iPaq 4155 off eBay for $199 plus shipping, and it does much more than my Treo 650, but no phone, including 802.11b wireless and Bluetooth. It's the same size as my old Palm Vx. There's a new model iPaq (9150 I think) that is same size, but omits Bluetooth.
All that said, I'm having a real tough time convincing myself to go back to two devices - once you converge, you lose the urge (for two).

Could you be a bit more specific about what features you'd like to have? If you're looking for similar form factor the Tungsten C is probably the closest in the Palm OS world.

Will the Treo be available to any othe wireless carriers besides Verizon?

Specifically Sprint.....

Would an unlocked phone resolve that issue???
Would an unlocked phone resolve the Treo 700 issue for Sprint users???

No because Sprint is a CDMA carrier and they only allow activating phones that they already have the ESN for in their database.

i don't think there's any need to change plans... i could be wrong but an unlocked treo should work fine with tmobile.
and if the only reason u need a pda is to get ur life organized then i'd suggest u go for a pda/phone combo. lugging two devices gets too cumbersome at times. i had a SE_T610 and a Tungsten T3 as my phone and pda respectively. it worked out pretty well initially but as time went by i found myself leaving my T3 behind more often than not.
now that i have a Treo 650 everythings seems to be working out gr8... i couldn't have asked for anything better. sure it's a real buggy device which required a lot of fine tuning, but it's a smooth sailor now. the prior experience with a palm device did come of good use.. many new users could get frustrated pretty easily though.
to sum things up... the 650 is a powerhouse which has helped me manage my everyday life humongously.
