is there a write up to make this work for windows xp?

Can anyone assist me in doing this with a Verizon phone...I have the correct plans but haven't figured out how to get it working. If these instructions will work, let me know. THanks in advance for the help.

You need the "
Unlimited Data Plan for Phone as Modem" to use your Treo as a USB Modem... that plan is $39.99/month...
Now the question is can you drop the Unlimited Internet Access for $20.00? I believe so because I went on Sprint's website and it would not let me select both plans, just one or the other...
Intersting question, perhaps a call to *2 can answer your question... PERHAPS!! Everyone knows how the Sprint Customer Service can be...
how will sprint know that someone is using their phone as a modem, i dont think they will be able to tell... i did the above mentioned on cingular when i had a blackberry and they didnt know... im sure they like to discourage this due to excessive bandwidth, but im sure they wont be able to tell...

Sprint has a more superior network than Cingular and is able to track data usage. When they see a spike in data usage they are able to find out that the phone is being used as a modem. That and the fact that you have to dial #777 to gain access to use your phone as modem!
Of course I was harassing you about Sprint being more superior than Cingular too so don't bust my balls!

ok, i got ya... when someone accesses the net, their phone automatically dials #777, right.. also, when your phone is used as a modem the same #777 is dialed..
if i access a web page from my phone that is 2kb to load, what is the difference between 2kb's on my pc or 2kb's going 'through' my 700wx..?? i dont think there will be a difference, so i think its impossible for sprint to tell the difference..
my .02 cents

I'm not sure if that last post was a typo but here is my two cents.
There wouldn't be a difference between the amount of data between your palm and your 700wx. However there would be a difference between your palm and 700 versus your desktop or laptop PC. The usual webpage on the palms takes roughly 5-300kb's. Where your normal PC webpage will load anything from 200-900kb's (or more). Basicly a lot more information on normal webpages. Not to mention if you multiply that times the number of webpages you view well..... Its going to stick out.
I hope I explained that ok.

To answer your question, GET PDANet and "Stick it to the man!" This program was created by June Fabrics and works just fine. Sprint is able to detect the level of usage but they don't care if you don't mention it to them. For a one time charge of only $34, PDANet has saved me a rather large amount of money as I travel frequently and my Sprint Treos are used as a primary source for connectivity. I have used it for two years next month since first signing with Sprint on the same plan you have mentioned above and had NO problems. Sprint does not block any web sites or prevent streaming. If you had VZW it would certainly be a different story.
PM me should you require any other assistance with either PDANet or Sprint. You can also see my posts offering assistance with Sprint Customer Service (if one can call it that). Good luck and happy surfing.
*NOTE: I am not affiliated with either company mentioned above.*

A little late with this reply I know - but I didn't want to cough up the extra monthly charge to Sprint. I got PDAnet for $35. It works fine with my Windows Vista and 700wx, and I don't have to pay extra every month for the Sprint modem service.
As for speed, it's faster than using the 700wx internet function, and nearly as fast as DSL.
