Need Help Picsel PDF Viewer error on Treo 700w

I just got my Treo 700w and the Picsel PDF Viewer software that came on the Palm/Verizon installation CD does not work.

Installation goes fine, but at the end does say that "this software may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile."

Try to launch the program from the program group or open a PDF file both result in : "Initialization Failure".
Anyone seen this or have a fix? I can't believe they actually shipped a version with the phone that doesn't work!

    Informative Fixed.

Update. Doing a "soft" reset on the Treo got it working now.

Too bad it looks like you can't zoom with the viewer.

    Default You can Zoom

    Oh but you can zoom!

Use the menu buttons/navigator to change from pan mode to zoom mode.

Finally learned the exact keystrokes, sorry I didn't post them earlier.
If you choose the left soft button that switches between "Hide Mode" and "Show Mode". This is whether you are in Pan (left/right/up/down) or Zoom (in/out).

So, you then use the 5 way navigation.
If you are in Pan mode, obviously you just move the document left/right/up/down.
If you are in Zoom mode, up zooms in, down zooms out.
And, clicking the button in the center of the 5 way switches between Pan and Zoom modes.

    Default Picsel "memory full" error

I have a problem with Picsel Viewer: I cannot get it to work at all. I installed it on my 1gig Mini SD card in the Verizon Treo 700w so that it had plenty of memory. But, every time I try to open a PDF file, no matter how small, I get a "memory full" message. Anyone know what the problem might be? Obviously Picsel Viewer can't be patently useless. But, I don't know what more I could do aside from installing it on the card and I've done that twice, removing the first installation before installing it the second time. By the way, I even though that perhaps itr wasn;t meant to be installed on the card for some reason (my old Palm Treo 650 had some quirks like that), but, during the installation, it asked me if I'd like it on the device or the card. I chose the card.

Phil, I had a similar problem. Neither Palm nor Verizon were able to help fix the issue. So I decided to go with Adobe's mobile Acrobat Reader which has more options as a PDF viewer anyway, and it's totally free. I don't have a link, but you can easily find it on their site.

It works wonderfully on my phone too. Check it out.

    Default Pdf

I installed Adobe Mobil on the 700 and could not get it to work. Had similiar problems installing Picsel, but eventually installed it. I get a Memory Full error every time I start it.
To get it to work I stop all programs first, then start Picsel. My only conclusion is the system memory is inadequate. No suprise here!

    Default Picsel Viewer

I've had similar problems. Did soft reset to get Picsel Viewer to load. Then got the "memory full" error. But the frustrating part is I called Picsel's S.F. office and asked for tech support, got transferred to a guy named Jim Thomas who apparently is the ONLY person at the whole company who fields support calls. It's been two weeks and the guy hasn't called back.

I also emailed through the website and didn't get a response.

Looks like Palm blew it when they licensed these guys. Because, of course, Palm is of no help since it's third party software.

Default Thanks SiskoKid, StevenTyson and labakes

I guess I'll give Adobe mobile a try (even though you, Sisko and Steven, each had a different result). This Picsel Viewer is just worthless, so I have nothing to lose. And, labakes, I am sure that memory is not my problem because I installed it on a 1gig SD card! A gig should be plenty of memory. If anyone else has a suggestion, I would be grateful
