Default Please Help me with Gmail Settings for 700W

I have tried to set up gmail on the 700w to no avail. Each time I do it I get some other sort of error. I searched the forums but each time I check there are different suggestions and they all seem to have errors.

Can someone please give me their settings for gmail? Whatever the best way is I will use.

Thanks,
Todd

Here's a link to the FAQ:
http://www.everythingtreo.com/kb/can...il-on-my-treo/

My only experience is using Gmail through a browser on my 700w. I have not attempted to setup Gmail through POP settings in the mail application.

There are two options for browser based Gmail:
Mobile Gmail - m.gmail.com
Normal Gmail - mail.google.com

I prefer the normal gmail interface...it looks almost exactly like the interface you would use through desktop IE or other browser...although, it defaults to the HTML version because mobile IE doesn't support whatever dynamic technology is used in the desktop IE version.

I've found the mobile gmail site too basic...both sites respond very quickly through the EVDO service.

This is how I checked my settings - your's should be similar.

Message>>Tools>>>Options. Tap on your gmail account.

Enter your email address: johndoe@gmail.com

<next>

Your Name: John Doe
User Name: Jone Doe
Password: type your password

<next>

Account Type: POP3
Name: Gmail

<next>

Incoming mail: pop.gmail.com:995
Outgoing mail: smtp.gmail.com:465
Domain: leave blank

<next>

Options

check - Connect and check for messages every:

15 minutes

<next>

check - Only display messages from the last _ days (put the number of days)
leave blank - Require SSL connection
check - Outgoing mail requires authentication
check - use separate settings

Outgoing settings

User Name: John Doe
Password: enter your password
Domain: leave blank
check - save password
check - require SSL for outgoing mail

(click ok)

<next>

Get message headers only
check - Include
(2) KM message body

click finish

Be sure to logon to your gmail account on your PC and enable POP3 in the settings tab.

With these settings the gmail works great on my Treo, and it also seems to solve the problem of having gmails disappear from the in-box everytime a new sync occurs.
