Default Question regarding Bluetooth Sync

If I use Bluetooth Sync, will the Treo automatically sync whenever it gets in range of the computer? Or, can I specify when it should begin a sync?

I ask because I have had some issues related to activesync which force me to disconnect and reconnect. If the Treo is "always" updating when it's near my desktop, that would not be helpful.

Your 700 will want to always try to find the bluetooth connection, which relates to batery lose if not connected to charger. What OS system to you have on your computer. Might be helpful to remove activsync off the computer and reinstall. Or try moving your USB plug to another port. Somethimes windows likes to a cetain port only, i find.

Thanks for replying, but I don't understand what you meant. So, you are saying that the Treo WILL automatically sync when it's in range of the PC if bluetooth sync is enabled?

I guess I was a little unclear about my troubles with activesync. I don't have any troubles with it per say, it's just that I find it a little overzealous. And for some reason, in order for me to sync protected WMA files to the Treo, I always have to disconnect and reconnect it to the PC just before doing the sync. Otherwise it usually fails. Just one of those wacky things, I guess.

When it comes to moving and synchronizing, I'm big on doing things manually, not having them automatically happen.

Default Must force bluetooth active sync connection

My active sync does not connect auto. When I want to sync, I have to tell it to connect via bluetooth. Then it connects and does the sync without any additonal action. It will stay connected and continue to sync whenever you make changes in the Outlook items you have set to sync. You have to go out of range or tell it to disconnect for it to disconnect.

yea neither does mine, but I wish it would! That means I could pull in my driveway for about 2 mins and update all my stuff. Sweet.

I have had problems syncing w/ bluetooth. Mostly with the fact that i have to constantly add and remove the comm ports. It only happens if I sync disconnect and attempt to reconnect via bluetooth. Only way to fix this that I found was to remove the incoming comm port on my desktop and add it again. FYI
