really dissapointed with my new treo 700 I just bought a new Treo 700 from Verizon and got the unlimited broadband package. I previously had a SideKick and I must say that I'm really dissapointed with a few things right off the bat.
Fellow Treo users, can you tell me if I'm doing something wrong here? ...
1) Broadband connection is not dedicated - If I leave the broadband connection idle for more then say 30 seconds it has to dial-in and connect which takes about six seconds and launches a dialogue box. For example, I have the Treo configured to check e-mail every 1 minute. Every minute the Treo dials-in to Verizon first before pulling down e-mail. Is this really the way the broadband connection works? It's not dedicated? I'm stunned. Even more frustrating is that when I'm working on another app ... say my calendar ... every minute a dialogue box pops-up over my work saying the unit is connecting, completely disrupting what I'm doing. I can't find anyway to hide this dialogue box.
2) E-mail is not stored on the unit - It appears that e-mail that I retrieve from a POP account is not stored on the Treo. There's no way to delete mail on the server. And if I have another machine also checking mail and deleting after downloading, the e-mail dissapears from my Treo after it downloads on the other machine. With expandable memory, why on earth can't I save e-mail to the Treo?
3) Treo doesn't sleep if e-mail is automated - If I'm set to check e-mail every minute, shouldn't the Treo notice if I've been idle for x minutes and then go to sleep. Instead it wakes up every minute and pulls down mail, undoubtedly draining the battery.
Is there any way around these issues? I'm ready to take this thing back and I haven't even had it for a day.
Does the Treo 650 have these same issues? |
