Default Reclaim leaked memory (without a soft reset)

I know lots of people have been asking about the best way to get their leaked memory back (yes, sorry Microsoft, but the problem still exists...albiet improved from the first version of the OS that shipped with the 700w). Here's a couple great utilities to help you get your leaked memory back without a soft reset!

http://www.oxios.com/memory/

if you want quick access to the benefits of this app, assign the program to a programmable key (like the side button under the volume controls) - if you do this, you can watch it work by holding down OK to get to the memory management screen, then hold the side button and watch your memory available go up!

hope this helps speed this baby up for some other people!

Question

Does this program use different commands from the "close-all" app that you posted about previously?

http://www.everythingtreo.com/forum/...ighlight=close

I've been using close-all and it seems to work too.

Kevin-

Looks good, I noticed it says it doesn't support WM 5. Is it working on your 700w?

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Although it doesn't officially support WM5, it does work to reclaim memory. I have read posts by a bunch of other people saying it was working well for them as well.

Awesome, I'm going to email it to my 700w now. As a Mac user, I'm still not able to get the benefits of the latest update. Still trying to sync with the alpha version of Mark/Space's Missing Sync for WM5. Each week, they seem to be releasing a new version -- and each week I install it to find it out it doesn't want to cooperate with my 700w. I'm about to try version 10 this morning. I started at 5 or 6, so it's not that bad. It only supports Bluetooth syncing, but I cannot get ActiveSync to be one of the supported services. I'm running everything needed on my Mac -- latest OS - Bluetooth connection. No luck. We'll see...

Thanks again for the find.
Chris

Default Hooray!

Ive only had this working for a couple of days now, but so far it works VERY well. After all the trouble in the past, I actually enjoy opening up my SETTINGS > MEMORY > MAIN ..... looking at the number, then hitting the key-combo that I programmed for the memory recovery and watching my remaining memory go from 5, 6, 7 or 8 remaining to 11 in a blink.

GREAT FIND.

UPDATE: Just to add....Ive had this loaded for 5 days without the need for a single soft reboot. Before, I was doing it 2-3 times per day. No question, its the best additional software Ive loaded. Should be standard in the Treo/WM5 distribution.

The original discussion for Oxios Hibernate can be found here, and I added the Hibernate.exe to the Notification Queue database so that it would run everytime you powered on the device (bring it out of standby), making it run automatically for you.

Can I do this with all applications? Am I just copying the CAB file over to my phone and then running that CAB file? I prefer not to run any .exe files on my desktop computer if I don't have to. Thanks.

I typically keep all of my cab files ready to load back into my device if I am playing around and do a hard reset. Its alot faster and easier for me.
