I downloaded Microsoft's Remote Display Control on to my PC and installed it on my Treo 700w.
It's pretty cool!
It allows you to display the Treo screen on your computer. It was orginally designed to give demonstrations about what a smartphone can do to a larger audience.
I was also able to connect my Treo to the internet, and used the PC's keyboard and mouse to navigate.
I think this is different than using the Treo as a modem, 'cause you can only access the programs and such that reside on the Treo or on it's storage device.
The resolution is not that great, but it allows you to zoom 3x - so, you get a pretty big rendition of the Treo screen on your PC.
I bet this is a good solution in times where your particular ISP connection is down.
