SD card inserted and it takes up program memory, why...?

I fighting the memory battle with my new 700w thanks to my corporate email sync software called Goodlink. Because of this I'm looking for as many ways as possible to free up program memory. I just noticed that when I insert an SD card that I loose about 1 full MB of program memory, does anyone know why that is...?

I had not noticed it before your post today since I leave my 2GB card in all the time. I wonder if its a cache that Palm does or if its a driver of sorts thats alot of RAM.
