If everthing discussed so far is true then the only differences between a Treo 700p and Treo 700w will be 320*320 vs 240*240 and PoS vs WMoS. If you don't own one today you have alot of options, if you do own a Palm Today thn you will most likely want a Treo 700p for the OS and the investment in software.

    Default Should I wait?

I would say yes to waiting.
There are IT guys who want the handheld to conform with the corporate infrastructure, and that is OK. But the Palm OS is good, user friendly and I am sure there will be a 700p, or a 750 around the corner. I cannot wait to see the specs of this new Palm Treo!
I think Chris makes some good points on the wait and see. I just got a Treo 650. Maybe I will have to keep it as a back up and get the 700? Let's see.

Just my .02 worth. If you are looking for a smart phone, and not necessarily a Treo, there is a plethora of options out there right now. Windows WM5 OS is in three PPC model phones that I am aware of right now. Two of which can be purchased online. These phones offer sliding keyboards, and a few options that the 650 doesn't offer. WiFi being one of the largest! None of them in my book can compare to the Treo form factor, but these are very small phones, with several features. By January, Cingular should offer a WM05 model that includes WiFi, voice activated software, for $300 with a data plan and a two year contract. $450 without contract. (these are made by HTC also) The Treo 700W should offer anything that these WM05 phones are now offering, with the addition of the Palm form factor that so many of us love. Waiting can be a good thing. But sometimes, we end up waiting and waiting, on that perfect device, and we miss out on a whole bunch of near perfect ones . . . . . I am not a patient person myself . . . I know there is no way I can wait for the 700P or 750 or whatever it might, or whenever it might get here. I am down to a new 650 or a new WM05 device from Cingular. I have decided to get Christmas behind me, and then I am going to do something. Right now I am leaning to the 650 only because I have owned multiple Palm units for the last 7-8 years. I have software for the Treo, am familiar with the OS, and know what I am getting into. But I do feel that in a lot of ways the WM05 OS is superior. Its a long way from perfect, and as far as 3rd party software goes, I believe it faces a lot of the issues that the Treo currently does . . . . One thing that bothers me about any of these phones is, they are not exactly rugged. Every Palm unit I have ever owned died after I dropped it. And that is always going to happen sooner or later . . .

    Peace and grace!

    Favorite I have a 600

i have the 600 and happy with it I would wait a few months to see if there's any bugs on the new 700. I remember when i first bought the 600 when it first came out there were some bugs that needed to be fixed. So I advise to wait at least 3-4 months.
