Showing upcoming Appointments on Today screen - Treo Forums

I thought I had discovered this before but forget and couldn't find it by searching the site ... isn't there a way to change the number of days in advance that the Today screen will show appointments? I thought you could tell it to only show the current day of Appointments or the next 3 days or 1 week or something. I have 2 appts on Friday coming up but these end up scrolling the Speed Dial boxes off the screen and I certainly don't need to see these Appointments for the next 6 days when I use the Speed Dial buttons more often. I know I can move the Speed Dial section higher in the Today screen but I sorta like those along the bottom near the Call Log buttons and such.

The option that I'm seeing is a choice between:

Next appointment or
Upcoming appointments

and the ability to display all day events.

This can be found by going to Settings > Today > Items > Calendar > Options.

I agree, it would be nice to have further options with regards to days shown. It's possible that you could do this with third party software, but I'm not sure.

Thanks, Chris, and I see those options as well and for the life of me I don't even see why they included the "Show next appointment" option as this is less-than-worthless. Who wants to see that they have a Conference call at 4:00 PM but NOT see that they also have Dentist appointment at 5:00 PM? You will be 45 minutes into the conference call when the 15-minute reminder pops up on the Dentist appt but then you work 40 minutes away from it and will be late. It just makes more sense to view ALL of the upcoming appointments so you can see that you have a 4:00 call and a 5:00 appt too and then you can know to stop the call at 4:30 at the latest but maybe that is just me.

And I think it only shows the next appointments on the next day that you have appointments. I originally had two items on this Friday so those were the things being shown though I don't need to be reminded for the next 6 days about this as the appointments take away from the screen real estate for the next 6 days when I'd be just as happy seeing these 1 or 2 days ahead of time. I made a dummy appt tomorrow and magically the Today screen now only shows the 1 appt that I set for tomorrow and that is it when it would be possible to view 2 appts here and see that I have nothing except tomorrow's appt and something on Friday. So I don't think it is possible with the native Calendar program and maybe I'll look for another app though it isn't a priority to me as the Calendar is not one of my primary functions (which is why I will most likely move it to the bottom position of the Today screen and just let the appointments scroll off the bottom rather than pushing off the SpeedDial buttons or Text message notifications, etc.).

I looked in Calendar prefs, but the only option is to change the appointment reminder from 15 minutes. I agree with you, there should be an option for show today's appointments > next 1 day > next 2 days.

Take a look at some the apps from SBSH, as they offer Today plugins that might be more offer a more robust feature set.

Will do. I've been pleased with the apps I've found so far (Opera mini, Adobe reader, etc.) so will keep tailoring my phone to fit me. One question though is should I be installing these 3rd party apps to the storage card? This would leave memory available on the phone but would also allow the apps to remain there if I have to do a hard reset at any point or if soft resets remove some settings or configurations? I have a 2 GB card in the phone now (my 4 GB card is sitting here as it does not work in my phone for some reason though other 700w users CAN use a 4 GB card - harumph) so have plenty of room available to me as I'm sure I'll use more than 30 MB of the phone memory over the next year or two.

I think that would depend on your available space and how the program performs off the SD card. I would think some programs would be more responsive when installed on the internal memory. If you have limited apps, I'd suggest installing internally.

IO got around today problem by going to Spb's today app. Works fine for me, but does need to be in the main memory.

this is a bit off your subject but . . .
Is the problem with the 4 gig card that it is read only when placed in the pohone ?

My 4 gig card would not work either until I discovered that the read/write lock tab was repositioned to the read only position when the card was inserted into the phone (tight fit or sloppy tab).

Glued the tab in the write (so to speak) position and now no problems.

Thanks, Roger. I will take a look at the Spb Pocket Plus program. Right now it is not a necessity but I will keep that in mind. It only bugs me when your next appointment is more than 7 days away and you keep seeing it on the Today screen for 14 weeks when it takes up the real estate that Picture Speed Dial icons can sit. Maybe I just need to create more appointments and it won't bother me as much.

Well, even IF the Read/Write switch were in the Read position then the phone should *still* be able to read the card. My problem is that it does not even see the card, doesn't recognize it in the Memory tab, etc. If I put this in my handy card reader (USB 12-in-1 reader connected to the laptop) then I can see the card, format it as FAT or FAT32, copy files to it, read files off of it, etc. I put that same card in the phone and Nada. I put in a 2 GB card and it finds it instantly. I'd love to use it but don't know how others are able to use a 4 GB card and I can not. Is there a sort of "Windows Update" or "BIOS" to update like normal computers require from time to time?

I did not understand the extent of the sd card problem.
Dont know what to offer at this point. I just plugged in the 4gig and away it went (after the switch problem was resolved).

I hate to say it, but do you know anyone around with a known working 4gig card to plug in to your unit ?

We are also getting off of the subject of this thread but since I didn't split the initial items then I've nobody to blame but myself (slaps self on wrist). You hit it exactly, actually. If I plug in the 2GB card the phone makes the lower three-tone signal that you've plugged in an expansion card. If I remove the 2GB card it makes the higher-pitched sound (as if Cinderella is waving a magic wand). If I plug in the 4GB card and unplug it then the phone makes the exact same sounds except it does not show up as memory on the Memory program (Storage Card tab) and I can't see it in File Explorer and I can't choose it as a location to save photos. I *CAN* see it and store things to it when I use the 2GB card.

I do not know anyone around with a Treo as most of my friends have, ack, Blackberry devices. My cousin in WI has a 700p but I'm in PA. I'm even willing to mail my 4GB card to someone who IS using one, let them try it and see if it works (and if it does please keep it and send me your working 4GB card and maybe that will work in my phone) or send it back that it doesn't work in their phone either.

The store where I bought it is refusing to offer me a refund or replacement since the card physically DOES work (i.e. I can put it in a card reader and format it, copy files to it, etc.) so they say there is nothing physically wrong with it. I did try to put it in my Canon PowerShot camera and it can't read the card either. I'm not sure what's up. I've formatted it every way possible but it still will not get recognized in the phone.
