Okay, hopefully I can help you with this. I'll go thru my experience step by step.
1. Last Monday I picked up my Treo. It's a company phone and I would need to port over my number from my old Nextel. The guy at the Verizon store said it would be best to wait to port until Dec. 2nd since that is when my Nextel's contract ended.
2. Got home and manually set up my e-mail thru Wireless Sync on the phone. E-mail worked but it navigating thru the phone's features was sluggish. Sometimes it would even hang up or crash.
3. Finally last Friday I called and spoke with a Verizon rep that said it could be a few things. 1.) the software wasn't up to date. We checked it and it was 2.) The temp number I was given might be trying to connect with the phone it used to be associated with and after the port took place it might fix itself 3.) The phone is defective. After this conversation I just decided to wait until Sunday to see if the port fixed things.
4. The e-mail up and stopped working on Sat. night. Called Verizon again on Sunday the 2nd for the port and to find out what's up with the e-mail. The guy said we couldn't do the port yet because the account's password would be needed. Since it's a business account I didn't have it. He said the e-mail konked because a Myaccount hadn't been set up on the phone at Verizonwireless.com yet and he really was surprised the e-mail worked in the first place. After the port is completed is when you want to set up the Myaccount. He said we can try to fix the problem with it being sluggish. Here's where I think the problem was fixed. He had me tap the Start Menu and go to Settings. Then go to System. Then go to Memory. Then go to Running Programs. There is a box that shows all of the programs running. He had me click the Stop All tab. Don't worry, you won't harm anything by doing this. It's like a bunch of stuff running in your system tray on your PC. Once I did this the problem went away and has not come back. Even now I'll go to see what programs are running, and there are a lot of them, but it still runs smooth as a baby's butt.
He had me do a few other little things but he(and I) seem to think this did the trick. If it doesn't work call them, they'll help you get it.
Got my number ported, the Myaccount started, and my e-mail working again. A word of warning, when Verizon helped me get my e-mail up again thru Wireless Sync it automatically disables Activesync. I found this out when I tried to sync to my Outlook tonight. Simply go back and enable Active sync. If you can't figure this out let me know.
Hope all this helps.
