Question Sprint Treo 700wx - Can't dial number from calendar item / appointment!

I have a Sprint Treo 700wx. My calendar appointments often have a phone number in the location field. When I open the appointment to get the number, I can't tap the number -- the Treo doesn't recognize it as a phone number.

It's a pain to have to first write down the number, exit the calendar, then manually dial the number on the keypad.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, this happens in my 700w and is very annoying. When I had a Blackberry it was very easy to go to an appt and click on the phone number to dial (and even have it recognize the a PIN code, for example, if I have to dial into a conference bridge).

With the 700w I have to write the # down or copy and paste into the dial pad. Isn't this the year 2006? How can the developers at Microsoft leave out a simple function like this?

Also, when you dial a number from the phone book it doesn't recognize an extension, if present in the contact record. You have to remember the extension or go back into the contact record and input it manually.

C'mon Microsoft....this is f'ing ridiculous. This is one of my single biggest complaints about the 700w

I don't think it's Microsoft because on my Q this works no problem.

Anyone else have this issue?

Question Corporate dialing / extensions

I don't hold a lot of hope for this one after reading the posts above mine but here goes.....

Does anyone know if the Treo can recogize when the number stored in your contact (for a given phone type - say work) is an extension? Further - is it able to then dial a complete 10digit number and wait for you to tell it to dial the extention?

The berry has a very easy capability called corporate dialing. You tell it the default length of a corporate extension. Then whenever you choose a number of this length out of your address book it automatically dials a number that you set up ONCE under corporate extension setup. The phone waits for you to tell it to go ahead and dial the extension.

Additionally - any number with an "x" is interpreted as an extension. This works good for two ways:
1. if you have some people in your company with extensions of a different length other than the standard you put in corporate dialing
2. if you have a phone number stored with an extension - ie work 212-555-1234 x235. In this case the phone would dial the first phone number and wait for you to tell it to dial the 235...

Does anyone know if a Treo can come close to this. It appears that it can do all sorts of Crap we really dont need like pop up a picture of the person calling yet it can't do the basics...
