Default Still not connecting to PC

I have been frustrated for the past 4 hours because my computer is still recognizing my Treo at all. It has worked before, but I installed McAfee Personal Firewall a few days ago. I went ahead and changed the settings as specified by ActiveSync Troubleshooting. Still nothing. I uninstalled the wireless sync from my 700w and uninstalled and reinstalled the ActiveSync on my laptop. Still nothing. When I plug my usb cord into my 700w, the computer starts ActiveSync and hangs on the "connecting" til it times out. What is going on? I see that my laptop recognizes my 700w under the device manager, but I can't view anything when I go to my computer or ActiveSync? I'm working on XP.

Someone help.

It's being read as a Network Adapter under Device Manager on my laptop. Why?

I had this problem as well. BT worked fine but USB would not. Ends up, in the WirelessSync app, the box under activesync connection was switched to disabled. I changed it to enabled and have been fine ever since and did not experience any duplicate data.

Default Connected once, now does not recognize

I just bought the 700w on Friday, hooked it up, got it to sync just fine on USB. Then I tried a second time, and although the TREO says it is connecting, the PC Activesync window says Not connected.

Trying to push the connection manually doesn't work either says waiting to connect and cannot find it even though it says USB available...I have switched the McAfee settings, I have reinstalled Activesync 4.1, all the same, works the first time after install, then refuses to work. The thing about it is that the computer is recognizing the hardware when it is plugged in, the Activesync program itself just isn't recognizing it and starting the sync.....can anybody help??

Default Treo 700 sync connection issues

I had the same thing happen. Microsoft KnowledgeBase acknowledged an issue with ActiveSync and USB hubs. Try a different USB port, preferably avoiding using USB ports on the front of the PC, on a laptop docking station, or through a USB hub. This helped me somewhat.

If you need to disconnect the cable from the PC, always disconnect the handheld from the cable, then the cable from the PC (this caused the same type of problem for me).

The best solution I found, however, is to replace the OEM sync cable. Once I switched to a Seidio Charge and Sync cable the problem went away (as long as I disconnect as mentioned above).

Good luck!

I had similar issue, here is what fixed mine.

Go into "Network Connections" on your host PC before you connect your Treo 700.

Now plug in your Treo 700 to USB port/hub.

Watch for new "local area connection" to appear.

Right click on that new "local area connection" and go into properties.

Make sure all three check boxes are selected.

Gool Luck! Hope this fixes your issue as well as it did mine...
