Anyone got an explanation to why my Treo keeps freezing up for no apparent reason? I take it out of the holster and the screen is black, but the green LED light is blinking. I am getting tired of soft booting this sucker! Thank you.
Thanks for the heads up as the zero reset was not part of the Everything Treo wiki -- but is now.

It appears the Zero Reset method overwrites data. Unfortunatly, i need to find out why my Treo 700w is freezing up. Is it possible I am the only one who has run into this problem? Doesn't seem likely. The screen goes black, the green LED light is on, but nothing i do short of soft booting it seems to get it working again. Anyone? Thank you.
It has happened to me quite a few times, what version are you running? I used to think it was because i was leaning on a button for a long time now i think it just needs a software update. I also soft boot once every 2 days to help this out.
I had a 700w from Verizon about two weeks ago (new account too), the phone is/was awesome. However, after loading my employers Secure Email link software I was left with about 4mb of ram left. So, if I would open a web page and surf a little, then open my IM chat window, then all of a sudden i'd get an email or something and the whole machine would lock up or run at such a slow refresh that you'd think it was frozen. After readin online a bit, I found that the biggest complaint with the 700w is that it doesn't have enough ram.
Do you think you might be low on ram? My solution was to leave Verizon before my 15 day trial was up, and then I went back to Sprint and got a better deal on the 700wx which has 2x's as much ram as the 700w. The freezing and sluggish problems I was having stopped.
So, one thing dad did help me on the 700w though, was learning that about 80% of all the programs I was running weren't actually closing when i'd click the X. Checking the 'Running Programs' tab of the Memory CP showed me that much. So I used a free software called Magic Button for PPC (you can google it I'm sure) and it would close all apps completely when you click the X, it also has a handy bar at the top which shows running programs if you want.
I wish Sprint would offer me the same deal Verizon is and the data coverage could match Verizon's in my area. Anyway, I think your assessment is leaning me towards the Palm OS. I have never really had any gripes about my Tungsten. Sure, Windows Mobile looks cool but not at the price of memory issues. I have seen enough of that over the years with Windows.
Well, it froze....again. After calling Verizon to have the "offical" complaint logged, I will wait for it to happen again, then call them back for replacement. I am running the latest, greatest software version and have never installed any third party software. Hopefully Verizon will honor their promise and replace the device if it happens again.
I have contact Palm Support on the zero reset and they claim clearly in email back to me that there is no zero reset option on the Treo 700p or Treo 700w. I have followed their directions with and without assistance and have zero success on this. If someone can show Palm support that it is possible that would be great.
Verizon will get the Treo 700wx (per Rockafella at HoFo Forums) in December and if so I will have another new Treo to make me happy.
