Default Treo 700wx or XV6700

First of all, I realize that this may be a biased forum, but thats alright. Some of you probably looked at the 6700 before purchasing a 700wx, so i'd love to know your reasons for buying the treo/not buying the 6700

need to decide in a few days which one...im having the hardest time deciding.

6700:

-definately sexy, especially with the slide keyboard
-i love how i have the keyboard when i need it, but not when i dont
-sliding keyboard is awesome IMO, idc about one-handed typing

Treo 700wx:

-always accessible keyboard
-easier to find/dial numbers/contacts
-palm support
-also pretty sexy

BTW, this is the priority of things im looking for in a pda phone IN ORDER:

phone
internet
sexiness
SMS/txt/AIM
nice, open OS (love playing around with customization and personalization

i cannot decide to save my life, ive been back or forth, but i only have a few days. Please, if you own one, tell me what you

Good decisions so far and I was in the exact same boat 2 months ago up to 2 weeks ago when I bought the 700w. PM/Email me and I'll send you all sorts of links and files I created in comparing these and save you the legwork.

My previous phone was an LG VX8000 and, 2 years ago, was about the largest phone available but it also had the V-Cast option so the screen was large just for that reason. I loved it. I don't need a small phone as I carry it most times in the swivel belt holster. I did not need to worry about the Razr or the Q or any phone boasting its small form factor. As it turns out - the 700w is barely larger than my previous phone (when closed) and with my old phone open its overall size is actually larger than the 700w.

Anyway, I was in a heated battle with myself over the 700w, 700p, 6700, and a pretty lil' Samsung i730. I loved the 6700 and i730 because the keyboard hides when not in use and for about 90% of the day I use a phone as a phone. I did not decide on the 6700 because it was almost certain that you would have to use two thumbs to use it instead of a single-handed use. That gave the edge to the i730. Verizon said this phone was 2'ish years old and they were phasing them out and not supporting them much in the future. Too bad as I really liked it (they have some i830 phones but support those even less since they are a Universal phone and there is not much call for them around here).

That left me with choices of a Blackberry, 6700, 700w, 700p, or the Q. I did not like the Q with the two soft buttons that are not buttons at all but flat places on the screen plus I did not need such a small phone. I did not like the Blackberry with the non-QWERTY keyboard because that is just silly. If you are going to have a 9-button layout then have the letters on the correct keys so you can spell out words when you have to (800-PICK-UPS or 800-FLO-WERS) and you can't do that on the Blackberry with that pseudo-QWERTY keyboard. I didn't like the other Blackberry devices because I was not confident in using the thumbwheel in scrolling only (I tend to scroll the thumbwheel and push it inadvertently and opening a program or setting I did not want to open and I'd prefer to just click on the screen where I see the icon instead of having to scroll through them to select them).

So that left the 700w and 700p. I owned a Palm Pilot years back so was aware of how to use the interface. I chose the Windoes platform based on its versatility (you can run Firefox or Opera on it instead of being stuck with IE though if the Palm can use a different browser then I did not see that in any review). I just always felt the Palm platform was like the Mac vs IBM scenario in the 80s/90s where the Apple shelf in the store had 8 products and the IBM shelf had 8,000 products and to use Palm-specific programs it just seems like an uphill battle when the rest of the world is using Microsoft products. This might not be true as I see lots of Palm-specific programs for the 700 model line but I had to draw the line somewhere and my home and office computers are 100% Microsoft.

The Blackberry also did not have a camera and the 700w can play Windows Media songs and set them as ringtones and have push email (don't know if the 700p uses Windows Media Player so can't comment on that).
