The Treo 650 is based on the Palm Operating System. It's offered through the following wireless providers: Verizon, Sprint, Cingular, Earthlink.

The Treo 700 is based on the Windows Mobile Operating System. It will be available sometime in Q1 of 2006 on Verizon. It will eventually find it's way to other providers.

Think of it as Mac vs PC. One runs Mac OS X and the other runs Windows XP.
In the world of Treo, one runs Palm OS and the other runs Windows Mobile.

Currrently the standard config (or most likely config) is 128MB ROM (OS and app storage) with 64MB RAM to actually run the Apps and the OS. Similar to your computer.

If Palm does its usuall thing they will cheap out on the memory but I have a feeling MS will have an issue with that.

    Hi, I'm new here.

I'm really interested in getting the 700 through Verizon, but I haven't seen any news about it yet. Can you refer me to a link that talks about the Q1 release? Thanks.

the 700w is slated for a Q1 release, but as far as i know there are no official dates. what's bad is that it's going to be available exclusively on verizon for the first six months!!!
six months is like way too long ! god knows when it's gonna come to other carriers ... i personally love palms and will wait for the successor to the 650 that runs my beloved palmos .

Sure, you could read the Windows Mobile on Treo Announcement

Here's a link the Treo 700 Photo Gallery.

Q1 of 2006 was mentioned in the press conference announcing the new Treo.
