I think the Today screen is a tremendous accomplishment by Palm and goes a long way towards making the phone easier to use. I think the bulk of Q returns are due to users being confused by the interface and second would be battery life. I own a Sprint Q and it's a champ. That being said, I think Moto has some work to do in order to make the phone easier to use. The first step would be to see what Palm has done and copy it.

This is my first post as a member here - I just became a member because I just bought a treo - I just bought I treo because I just returned my Verizon Q!

Although I'll keep my membership active at everythingq.com, I now see how the treo is in a completely different league. The Q had battery issues, was buggy, laggy, and frequently shut down by itself for no apparent reason. The Verizon people even told me when I bought the Q that "some" people have been returning them. When I showed up to bring mine back after almost the full 30 days during which returns are allowed, they weren't surprised at all and cheerfully took it back even with my greasy fingerprints on it.

As soon as I started clicking around on the treo, I couldn't imagine how I lived for nearly 4 weeks with the Q. The battery issues alone were enough to justify returning it - but then when I missed a bunch of important calls last Thursday morning because it had shut down without warning, that was the end. Luckily, the master reset feature worked with no bugs. :-)

My Dad was looking for a new phone and wanted to look at smartphones. He asked me about the Q and I told him that for a person's first smart phone, the Q is a good choice. It's small, it's priced right, the camera works pretty well, the flash is cool, the screen is more durable than it's touch screen counterpart, the bluetooth stack is the best available. I also told him that the battery life is a joke and expect to use a car charger constantly or both batteries.

He has had it over a month and likes it a lot. The one thing the Q does is one handed navigation - which of course it has to do given it has no stylus. I hate having to pull the stylus to click on things that should be accessible by the 5 way pad.

If you drop your device a lot or if you looking to get into a smartphone for not a lot of money, the Q is a good choice. If you have had a PDA or smartphone before, the treo is your only real option.

The only compliant I have about Windows Mobile devices is the phone application - it does the job but even blackberries handle calls better.

You can one hand a treo also, I do it all the time, just cant stand the crackberry style jogwheel.

The Q is cheaply made, I will give you one thing, dont dare drop a treo....lol I have insurance on mine just in case. I like the look of the Q definitely, but when the salespeople that sale the Q say they wish they had never seen it, thats bad, I am not talking one store, I went to 3 of them and talked to sprint employees from a call center, not one recommended the Q even over the free phones...lol

I had a 650 and figured I would try out the Q, bad idea. I went through 3 of them before getting a 700wx. 700wx is worth the extra money IMO.

Hands down the Treo. I have owned the Q for almost 6 months, and have been through 2 of them. The Treo is such an upgrade, and does 10x more then what the Q does. I agree that the Treo 700wx is in a different league then the Motorola Q. As a Blackberry user as well, and dealing with the software crashes, I am glad to finally own one of the better cell phones on the market.

I agree it all depends on what you are going to with the Treo.

I am a Sprint Q user and my wife has the Sprint Treo 700wx. I enjoy my Q and have had no issues with it. Don't know which stores cchalkley has gone to (if truly any) as none of the Sprint reps I spoke to when trying to decide bashed the Q. There are several of my co-workers with the Q, I asked them if they had any issues with it before it got mine as I read it was very buggy and they all stated no issues. All of us have gotten ours in the past 5 months I would say and I do know Motorola sent out an update early in the year. I mainly use my Q as a planner, I sync with my office exchange server get my meetings, read/reply to email, open docs, and communicate with my Office via IM using Mobile Communicator and that is about it. Though there are lots of other fun stuff I do with it like watch TV via Slingbox, it is a little more powerful than it appears. You can research for yourself at www.everythingq.com.

My wife on the other hand uses her Treo as a planner, reads and edits documents, everyday PDA computer processing basically. If I needed to use my Q to the extent she uses her Treo it would be difficult and I would have been better off with a Treo.

    Hope this helps you out.

I've been using the Sprint Q since it's release and it's been rock solid. No crashes or issues that I can report. I too have SlingBox installed and it rocks on the Q.
