Default Using 700w as modem, drops internet when calls come in

Help please. I have a 700W that I'm using as a modem to my Dell laptop. Everytime I get a call, the LT drops the internet for the call. Then I have to restart everything again. It's a royal pain. anyone know what to do? I used to use my Blackberry as a modem and never got dropped when I got a phone call.

Thanks in advance.

When using PDANet, is there anyway for Sprint to know that you're using it? I have unlimited data and text messages. I'm using the trial right now. I will purchase if I can't get the previous setup mentioned above to work. But I was told that Sprint somehow could tell when you're using the phone as mobile connection without the plan. Anyone know? Next, the PDANet says that I'm connected at 2.4Mbps. Is that good?

Spydurgurl,

Try right tab key "Menu" > Preferences > Phone Settings > Services > Data Settings and make sure the box has is check marked that prevents calls from interupting your data session.

I don't know about using that site, but I would just use it and see if they charge you. I am using Verizon and I am connected at 2.4 Mbps also. I find it very fast compared to the hard line dial up I had before. My husband is connected to a hard line and he has 24 Kbps, so this is MUCH faster. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I will try that when I get offline. I don't want to interrupt it now...lol.

I sent an email to the people that gave me the PDA net, and they said they were having probs with that and are working on it.

Thanks again for your help.

I downloaded the app from sprint, not PDANet. Once connected via the sprint connection manager, visit my network places/network connections. Locate the Sprint connection, right click and create shortcut on desktop. Whenever you want to connect, activate the modem link on treo, then double click the connection on the desktop. Voila.

Furthermore, the treo seems to not support disconnecting 1 of your call waiting calls. my assumption is that once connected, when someone calls, after you hang them up, you are hanging up both calls, forcing you to reconnect. After a hard reset, i seem to have been relieved of this problem.
