using the phone application

Hello all,

I've been using treo 700w for 6 months! I always found reaching the phone app. muct harder than the palm version of the treo ( treo 650 ).

with treo 650, you press the phone button and you get to the dial pad immediately and the speaker button is right there on the screen.

with 700w, however, it takes many click to get this level.

to be exact, this is what you do in treo700w.
action 1 press phone button
action 2 it pops the latest calls menu, so go one level up - you are on CALL LOG now
action 3 go one more level, now you are on DIAL PAD
action 4 press the center navigator so the dial pad comes up!

Is there any easier way to get to this level using some settings or some third party software?

or is there anyone outthere who prefers a third party phone app for treo700W?

In palm world, there sre many applications in this regard. In windows, I could not find any alternative.

from the today screen, you can click Menu, then scroll one down and get the Dial Pad. also, you can start typing numbers on the today screen, and it will attempt to match the name/number with an entry in your phone book...if it doesn't find a match, it just keeps track of the numbers you're dialing. but if you're "hooked" on the Dial Pad app, then I think there's some software out there that would allow you to re-map the action buttons and/or the side button to the Dial Pad
