Default VPN Troubleshooting help needed

This is my first venture in to the PDA world. I have installed Mergic's VPN on my Treo. Since there is so little to set I don't know where I can be going wrong but I cannot get the VPN connection to work. When I check my Cisco logs I can not even find any attempt to connect from the IP of the Treo. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this as there is no logging I can find on the Treo side. Can anyone tell me how to go about troubleshooting this? TIA.

Thanks for the reply. I did both but so far they are slow to respond (the holiday probably) so I was hoping someone here has already been down this road.

Progress, sort of. I now have verified that my software is NOT installing. I am using Mark Space Missing Sync and all it does is download the prc file. Nothing is getting installed. What was confusing me is that there is apparently some kind of VPN software already on the Treo. It still doesn't work but at least I know I am not fighting a problem with Mergic VPN.

So at this point the question is how do I identify the software on this thing so I can try to find some support? TIA.
