Default what is the difference between 650 and 700?

Besides the windows os, what is the difference between the two? Is there going to be wi-fi? I heard that that would be through expansion like the 650. I dont particularly like the windows platform so what is the big deal?

There will be an expansion card that will enable WiFi on the 700W.

If you don't particularly like Windows, and it doesn't have built-in WiFi... it must be a chicken!

I imagine moving to the Windows OS will be a big enough jump for the palm hardware guys - without adding any new features. The driver work alone for the 5 way button had to cause some headaches. With windows you should be able to get some things for free, for example outlook integration, that palm needed additional software for....

There are a FEW differences (even if you ignore the 240 x 240 700 screen vs the 360 x 360 650).

The 700 has more memory (64 MB, but it's not clear how much of that is available for users and if it results in larger "usable" memory than the 650's 22 MB, esp. when you consider that most Win apps are larger than most palm apps).

The form factor is a little different - slightly narrower and more rounded with slightly shifted button and keyboard locations.

It also has improved BlueTooth support (1.2) and EVDO.

Also, I believe WM5 supports FAT32 on the SD, so it will go higher than 2 GB.

Will be more usable than teh 650 due to the manner by which WM5 is designed around. If you will, there will be about 64MB of RAM dedicated to running programs, this most likely will always be filled with some programs, keeping the working RAM smaller than 64MB but usually larger than the 22MB some are used to. There will also be 64-128MB of ROM, in which applications, the OS, and some databases will be saved. There will be some of this free as well, to lend ease to having a place where people can install applications, but I do not forsee Palm curtailing this as much as the RAM (which in WM5 terms needs not to be worried abuot as much).

Also expect better battery life, similar to a 600 that isnt used very much.

I would think that the hardware component of the device should be good enough to run Win Mobile since most Win apps are bigger in size and require greater processing power. I would probably be interested in something like StyleTap and use the hardware to run Palm apps. That would be like running things in overdrive.

But, having 240x240 is quite a disappointment, but they have to start somewhere.
