What my computer says everytime i sync

I cannot get my comp to stop saying A Duplicate name exist on the system how do i stop it and by the way this is a used phone and he said it was a clear esn whatever that means

Have you recently done a hard reset??

If so click on your active sync, go to file> delete mobile device.
it will then show the basic heading. Reconnect your treo and sync. After your first sync, wait a minute then reconnect. One reconneted, go to options then highlight your contacts box.
