The Palm Wifi card works great...although, the card sticks out above the antenna on the 700w (this is a real pain in the ass). The Socket Wifi card does not extend out as far, although it still extends out to a 1/4 inch or so of the end of the antenna.

I was reading up on the socket card and their website stated that there were several known issues with this card when used with the 700w, this is leading me to stay away. Does anyone have any insight on the Spectec 802.11g card? Also, the palm is only 802.11b, I recommend a getting a g.

What good will a 802.11g card do for you? Where are you going to get 54 Mbps throughput on a Wifi connection? Most Wifi connections are tied to a T1, cable or DSL connection which typically is limited to 5 Mbps down at most. AND, with other users on the connection at the same time you're not going to be able to get all of that bandwidth either.

Granted, it's *cooler* to have the latest and greatest technology, but for use in the real world will you even be able to take advantage of 54 Mbps wireless connectivity?

A g card for me will allow a faster terminal services connection that allows me to control a seating production line using a Cimplicity diagnostics screen. I also use VNC to control the computers on the line that control each station. If I am not getting a good refresh rate, then its pointless. I'm IT by the way, lot of functions for my area.

touche!

Can the Treo render data that fast from multiple sources without crashing. I'd like to see that!

I can't even get mine to perform wireless sync and receive a text message at the same time.

Share your secrets please!

haha. I haven't gotten to try it yet so I can't offer any info. Chances are you're right, it will crash, I'll get mad, send it back, and yell at my phone until its contract is up. I used to do it with a dell axim someone gave me and it worked quite well. Most likely, it won't be the case with the treo.
