Will the Treo 700 with Verizon work in Canada?
I'm about to take a short trip to Toronto and was wondering if anyone knows whether the Treo 700 with a Verizon account will work there. I realize I may have to pay high roaming fees but if accept that, will the phone itself work?
If no one has a quick answer I'll do the leg work and meander around the Verizon site and see what they say.
Thanks,
Mike

As a CDMA phone it would appear from the Verizon website that it should work and cost a minimum of 69 cents a minute. If anyone has tried service from Canada I'd be interested, especially if there are any surprise charges one might want to anticipate.

Personally, I would call verizon and ask them. Especially the cost. I would also keep the persons name on file. I say this with experience, having been burned on charges in Jamaica by Cingular. I had the persons name and they reversed the charges. Just my opinion.

Verizon in Canada
I work for the business sales dept at Verizon Wireless - Yes, our service does work in Cananda. The best way to ensure your coverage there is to subscribe to the North America's Choice plan to limit your potential roaming costs. Check our website or call customer service for details. 800-922-0204 is the number you want.

hey julee...out of curiosity, could you tell my why the coverage in Chicago is ..well....weak? not trying to be rude here, but being that i live in Chicago and rarely see more than 2 bars on my phone, it makes me kind of wonder what's up (i've heard others complain about this as well, so i know i'm not alone). when i go back home to middle of nowhere Wisconsin, i get way better signal...seems kind of ironic and was just wondering if you had any insight. thanks in advance.

Calling and changing the plan works well. I was only in Canada for 3 days and it only cost me around $5 more. A lot better than paying $.69+/min. The change back was automated (no need to call back). It even sent an SMS message to tell me my plan changed back.
Where I was, phone worked but not data...
