    Default Yahoo e-mail & POP3/outlook

I upgraded my yahoo e-mail so I can for the POP3. On my laptop it works great with outlook. On my treo, I can only send things out of my pop3 directory. If an e-mail is in the outlook directory (which is where it goes) after I Synchonize, I can look at it on my treo, but cannot forward it or reply to it. Likewise when I send e-mail from my treo, the e-mail stays in POP3, and even when I syncronize, does not move over to sent mail on my laptop.

What are the workarounds on this? BTW my service is w/ Verizon if I got a verizon e-mail address, could I work around these issues then?

Sounds like your Outgoing mail information is incorrect on your Treo. I would double check that setting.

I don't have an account with Yahoo!Mail quick research and I found this

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995) Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465 use authentication.) Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com") Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com) Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Those are the settings for the laptop. For treo I used the POP3 & SMTP as you said above. It works, but keeps the stuff in a pop3 folder. Once my treo is syncronized, I can't go in to my outlook folders & forward. I can look at teh e-mails, but not forward. Just like descrived in teh initial question. I e-mailed Yahoo a week ago and there still 'working on it'

still sounds like something is not configured correctly.

On your Treo, give me the SERVER INFORMATION you have in your setup of Outlook
is your incoming mail as follows: pop.mail.yahoo:995
    outgoing mail: smtp.mail.yahoo:465
    setup exactly like that?

If anything, I'd delete outlook account on your Treo and recreated it... like I said, it sounds like a configuration issue... I don't see that any other yahoo subscribers are mentioning that they are having problems.

    No I had pop.mail.yahoo.com & not pop.mail.yahoo:995. Likewise I had smtp.mail.yahoo.com & not smtp.mail.yahoo:465

I'll try it tonight - can't do it now because I want to sync my treo to laptop first.

    Thanks for your help!

I tried those exact settings & my treo would not connect w/ the yahoo. I went back to pop.mail.yahoo.com & smtp.mail.yahoo.com & I could send & recieve but same issues as I posted the question about.

sounds like the problem isnt Yahoo.com & Treo, its Treo mail & Outlook sync not playing well together, what program on the treo is being used? The program, Oultook, and the conduits of sync all have to work together.
