Some people were saying that a 4GB card in WM5 would work, but would only read/use 2GB.
I've just upgraded to WM6. In WM5, I was having trouble with my Sandisk 2GB SD card where the Treo750 would think that the SD card is full (shows up full when you check the storage capacity) and won't access the card's contents where I keep ebooks and some video files. I would have to eject and reinsert the card or if it still won't take, do a soft reset.
Has this happened to anyone using either WM5 or WM6 and know s the cause & fix? Especially WM6 since I'm on that now.
This was really my main complaint about WM5.
I'd like to pick up a 4GB SD card to use with WM6.
From what I've seen, WM5 would not do anything larger than 2GB and did not have drivers for SDHC. It was SD only.
WM6 adds SDHC compatibility. I think Palm said it could handle up to a 4GB card, but I recently saw in another forum where someone was successfully using an 8GB SDHC Sandisk card with no issues. They also claimed it could handle 32GB SDHC, but I don't know of anyone who's actually done it.
BTW, did you try reformatting the card from your PC with FAT32?
I never reformatted the 2GB SD card to Fat32 until last night when I upgraded to WM6. Didn't even know about that requirement till I started reading up on WM6 upgrades and the SD card method. Maybe that was the reason why it would screw up and require ejects and resets??..??
Could be. That's the same reason I didn't like buying pre-formatted floppies back in the day. There were always a lot less issues if you formatted them yourself.
Boy, I just realized how badly that last comment is showing my age.
My treo 750 did not see the 4 gb card with WM5 and I replaced the cards it turns out it was the phone. Had it replace. The newone came with WM6 now it see it.
