hhmm - sounds similar to what mine used to do - it used to sound 2 alarms at the same time even though I'd only got one set. However, having been on holiday and had all alarms unset for a fortnight, that seems to have cured it! "I think it must be the nargles."

I'm still trying to figure why you cannot mute the phone for calls AND instant messages, but still let the alarm ring through.

I don't like to turn the phone radio off, because I'd like to see any missed calls/messages while sleeping. But if I turn down the phone ringer and phone event volume, the alarm isn't audible....

I turn it to silent and have it vibrate while I am asleep. It does not wake me up but if I go to bed by 11 I wake up around 6 without an alarm.

That's not really a solution at all. This thing is completely useless as an alarm.

I use it as a reminder for calendar event with an alarm sound or set reminders during the day for my task list with franklin covey plan plus and it works great
