750 blue tooth sync
I have tried every thing to get my treo 750 to sync by bluetooth but no success. I can active sync by cable but not bluetooth, even then the cable does not always work.
I am sure it is to do with the com ports, but my 750 will not allow me to edit the ports.
I have a HP bluetooth lap top nx6325 windows XP outlook 2007.
Any help would be appreciated.

your problem may be outlook 2007 it is not compatible with the xml format of office 2007 applications. Its supposed to be coming soon. also problems with vista and mobile device center syncronization. See other posted threads in the 750 ET forum.

So basically I cant sync by Blue T at the moment my treo with my laptop?

Idf bluetooth sync will work it should work by using the instructions of page 80 of the user guide on line at palm.com or in pdf format on the installation disk. If you dont have acrobat reader its a free download. If thgose directions dont work is probably for sure an outlook 07 type issue.

microsoft has promised something which will enable office 2007 file capabilities in wm5 and wm6 devices. Somebody has ginned up a cab file which allows that in wm6 devices and has promised a wm5 fix also. See the post as msmobiles.com which takes you to a post at xda developers.com

Thanks jfa, I have tried every thing and believe me if only it was as easy to read the instructions. I am based in London and have not found any one any where tha can make their Treo 750 sync by bluetooth!

Well I am sorry that you are having such difficulties. I dont have any blue tooth devices such as a headset or adapter for my desktop I do have a wireless network but I am able to sync with usb and it works for me at the office and usually keep my 750 hooked up via the usb cable. Im thinking about getting a cradle but I thought about it for over a year with the 650 and never did. If the problem is truly outlook 07 then the xda developer poster's wm5 solution might do the trick for you. But it might be a treo hardware problem. ???!!!???

I really feel for you. It took me 12 hours to figure out how to get mine working. Can you at least get a partnership between the two devices?
I had to create the BT setup twice and in both cases it had something to do with the COM ports setups. When I did it last time, the only way I finally got it to "See" the BT connection was to sync it first with the cable. Once it saw each other via Cable and I tried the BT again, activesync finally found the Treo.
On my PC (I use a BT USB Adapter), I had to add COM Ports. For "Local Services", I set it to COM 7. For "Client Applications", I set it to COM 8. On my machine, I had to just keep adding COM Ports until I got to COM 7, then deleted the ones I added getting up to COM 7 - same thing for getting COM 8.
This is how I have my Treo Setup:
Read thru the text below before you try it. You should create a partnerhip, then set up the COM ports on both your PC and Treo first, then Sync up.
My Desktop Setup:
My Bluetooth Places icon à BlueTooth Configuration
- Install: BT Adapter Software
- Set up PAIRING with Treo750
- Set up Local/Client COM Port Settings (Local=COM 7, Client = COM 8)
- Connect Treo750 to PC via USB Cable
- Make Activesync Connection – will appear in Activesync as TREO750.
- Sync up Device using cable.
- Unplug USB Cable
- On TREO: Bluetooth Settings à Devices à BigKAHUNA (Click/Hold to Edit) àActivesync Check Box will now appear à Check ON.
- On PC: Open Activesync Program à File à Mobile Devices à Select TREO 750.
- On Treo: Start à Programs à Activesync à “Connect via Bluetooth” à “Sync”.
- It should synchronize to PC.
Treo750
Bluetooth Settings
Bluetooth (icon) on Treo à TURN on Bluetooth à Check ON “Make Discoverable”
Devices (Tab) à "your desktop PC name"
- NO Check “Headset” (Only if using Earpiece)
- Check ON “Activesync” (This wouldn't show up until I sync'd via Cable, then it appeared when BT Connected - THis was the key to getting BT to work for me.)
- “Save”
COM Ports (Tab)
à Incoming Port (COM 0) - (Check ON “Secure Connection”)
à"your desktop PC name" (COM 8) - (NO Check “Secure Connection”)
Security (Tab)
à Authentication (Passkey) Required (Checked)
I hope this helps.

thanks for this I will try, what is interesting is that I have never seen activsync in the device box, even when connected by cable.
Might be something here. Any way your answer is logical and I can relate to it as I said I have been at this for weeks on and off.

I hope you get it to work!
I just read over my instructions. It was cut/pasted from my notes that I wrote in case I needed to do it again. I edited it to make it more generic for others to understand, but I saw that I missed a reference. "BigKAHUNA" is the name I gave to my desktop PC, so that should say the "BT desktop partnership" machine.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.
