horrible experience on my part. it is back to the seller. it froze giving me error cprog.exe and i would not go from there. neither resetting or taking the battery out would revive it.

well let me throw in my 2cents woth. I have had my 750 for six months now I waited and through and thought some more till I was tired of the pickets on the fence eating me up. I decided to take the 750 plunge and I am glad I did I liked the wm platform with pocket pc but hated active sync installation and upgrade s drove me absoluely bonkers for days at a time . No such problems with As 4.2 and 4.5 and the DST upgrade was not really a problem other than reading all the instructions for XP outlook and WM5. I have had a few minor glitches but mostly very minor annoyances. I am an attorney and I keep may calendar and contacts and task lists (Franklin Covey Plan Plus) keeps me connected with my paper brain past. I really love the 750. Its really a mater of personal preference. Until I find something I like beter I will stick with the 750. Its a good external brain and easier to carry around than the 2" ring binder I used before.

It isn't really the phone you have to get used to - it's WM. I hated it for a long time, but now like it a lot. It isn't as friendly as Palm OS, but is much more powerful. My 750 has been very reliable.

I agree it takes some getting used to. I started out with a palm IIIC and liked the simplicity of the palm os switched to pocket pc liked that better in spite of the hassles of dealing with active sync imnstallation eventually got fed up with active synch wanted a phone/pda got the 600 hated the crappy battery switched to the 650 got tired of weak battery and breaking the external antenna switched to the y750 and have loved the 750 I have only encountered minor annoyances and those have been mostly cured. I have only added sprite backup off the install cd and laridian pocket bible so not much added software which seems to cause the most issues.

Default my learning process on Treo 750

As a old Palm stuff enthusiast (Palm III, Palm V and Lifedrive owner) I just want to add my experience on the new Treo750, just bought.
Let me say first of all that I now pleased with the smartphone performance but I was surely frustrated when I started to play with it.
My first reactions where quite negative since I got frustrated by the multiple paths to do simple things and the general response time of the device. Since I was used to the Palm V (and Nokia mobile) user friendliness, I was used to press "one button one time" to get access to the most obvious things like SMS, or Contacts list. On the Treo 750 you can do that by pressing the Start button a couple of times (and you need a stylus...not always the case when you are on the way). I solved the problem installing the nice Spb shell menu.
The response time was not really good. When you want to cancel a call or stop the alarm to ring, it may take a little less than a second for the operating system to complete the process. This is not true for a standard mobile phone...and the first feeling was not very good. I found Tweak2k2 to boost a bit the Treo speed. But nothing in any case compared to the speed of a generic Nokia or Motorola mobile. It is also worthwhile to mention that if it is not simple to cancel the list of calls if you need to do so. You have to erase the Palmvol file on the device root. I must admit this is not the easiest way if you are in an hurry. Compare it with a MOtorola or Nokia. This is just a software not really an hardware limitation. Just think about it. There are many other similar little bugs I can list, as I am sure everyone of the Treo users. Last but not least, the battery life. Just discovered it is a 1200 mAh. By the way the 755p has been released with the 1600 mAh.
Just little things that altogether at once gave me a bad feeling when I used the Treo the first time. Only a pure love for Palm really helped me to go through all of them. I can imagine the a guy buying this phone coming from an experience with other brand mobiles.
My message..don't get frustrated, be patient and look into the web. There are few applications that can really turn the Treo in an outstanding smartphone. My Message to Palm software engineers. Do not reinvent the wheel. Put all of those nice icons of the Palm V to avoid me to go through the WM5 menus!
Device History: Palm III, Palm V, Palm T3, Motorola V66, Nokia 6230, Nokia 6131, Treo 750.

rcerutti Seidio has recently released a 1600mah battery for the 750 which fits in the same dimensions as the oem battery 49.95 at the ET shop or from Seidio.com

    Default New user has questions

I have had several versions of the treo, and then got the iphone. BIG mistake. Now I have gone back to the treo, 750. But I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. In the "today" mode, if you tap the green phone button on the far left of the phone, a menu comes up that has "Dial Pad" on top, then "Call Log" Then below that there are several names from my contact list. When you hit the green phone button again it calls the number, which is very annoying because I keep calling the first name on the list accidentally. How do I delete those names?

    Default Deleting Recent Calls list

Open your FIle Explore and you look into the root directory of the device, there is a file called PalmVol. Cancel it or rename it and the list of recent calls will disappear.
