active sync is not working

I'm using windows XP Home SP2, Palm 750 treo AT&T, syncing through a USB connection, windows firewall is disabled, symantic antivirus is also disabled, I do not use MS Exchange, when syncing, Activesync takes about 3-4 min to run through everything and then I get the error messege "The server is busy" - Support code:85010017. This is a brand new treo on a computer that used to sync just fine with the palm software/outlook on a treo 650. This is very frustrating as I am running out of ideas for solving this problem - thank you
