activesync not working

I have a Treo 750v windows mobile 5.0 OS, I've installed the active sync in my computer successfully, but when I connect the phone to my computer via the usb cord the computer just searches all the com ports including the bluetooth and usb and did not find my Treo, the message "device not found" appears on the screen of my computer. My usb port is working fine bec it works on my ipod & usb card reader, I have already uninstalled the activesync & reinstalled it w/ the same problem. Help! am I doing anything wrong?

What OSytem are you using. ?
Have you synced before?
Did Windows (assuming your using Windows of some form ) find your phone when you first plugged it in. ie did it recognize its as a Treo 750..

have you checked your usb cable. Sometimes my does not want to work. Also you may just have a bad installation cd. The first two pocket pcs I had I had similar difficulties and spent a lot of time on the phone with Microsoft and HP. Havew not had similar problems with the 750. Knovk on wood. Sometimes the computer seems a litlle slow in getting going with the sync operation. Are you plugging the usb into the back usb port on your desktop or laptop. If you are using a hub that is not ac powered or the front ports on a desktop the usb port may not be providing stable suficient power. The Treo are finicky about that especially at installation time.Know issue back to the 6xx series.
