Default avoid email addresses when syncing?

Background: Treo 750, Windows mobile 6, Active sync 4.5. I primarily use my phone for three things: making calls, texting and for my medical software I use as a nurse. I have to sync the software on a regular basis to keep my drug guide current.

OK, so I had to do a hard reset on my 750 after a program install went bad. I don't typically sync my contacts, I only need phone numbers in there. However, I synced the contacts before the hard reset so I would not lose them.

After everything was reinstalled from the reset, I synced up to get my contacts back in and it gave me a ton of entries, email addresses galore from my outlook. I was already expecting this, it's the reason I don't typically sync contacts, because I don't want all those in my phone. Having all those email addresses in there means when I type a name to call someone I have to literally type the full name every time just to weed through to get to who I want to call...that's no good for me.

Now, after I sync, I can go through the painstaking process of deleting all those out, however if I uncheck the sync contacts box (so it won't resync my contacts each time I sync my medical software) it wants to remove all of them that were synced originally...which removes the phone numbers also.

So here's my question(s), is there a way to control what contacts it syncs? and/or is there a way to keep the contacts I want on there without having to keep the sync contacts option enabled? Also is there a better way of doing this, because if I ever have to do this again I don't want to have to go through the trouble of deleting everything out I don't want.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Active Stynk is a wonderful advent of Microsoft's technology. May I suggest the use of a device based backup solution such as Sprite or SPB Backup or similar animal. That way you can restore specific files from specific dates with specific...well you know what I mean.
