Need Help Banner removal

Hello everyone, I have a 750 on rogers wireless and was wondering if anyone has found a way to remove the "Rogers" banner on the today screen. I know that its probably next to impossible to do, as i have been told, but it drives me nuts to have in on there. I have had other WM devices like the HTC tytn (which sucked), but at least on WM5 there was not Rogers banner. IF anyone has any suggestions please let me know it would be greatly appreciated.

If you're talking about the carrier line (has the BT symbol on the right side), you'll most likely have to do a regedit.

There are also several applications out there that utilize the carrier line and replace it's text with relevant data. I use TreoAlert and have that line show signal strength, battery status, and memory when it's not showing missed calls or messages.

If I remember right, the install file is a .cab file. To run a .cab file, drop it on your phone and open it from there. If it's an .exe installer, then try running it on your PC.

jfa, this program is not for editing the carrier text. It provides reminder alerts for missed calls/sms/email by blinking the LED various colors, playing audible reminders at preset intervals, and displaying on the screen.

(All this is functionality that should have been on the Treo to begin with.)

It just so happens that you can set it to use your carrier line for the display of missed stuff. When you have no pending notifications, you can also set your carrier line to display other useful info. For instance, if I have nothing pending, I have mine set to look something like this:

Sig=87% Bat=68% Mem=24MB

Very handy app. If you don't want to use your carrier line (some other programs may need to use it) you can also have it use it's own Today Screen plugin that looks basically the same.

Here's an update. I looked through the scripts used by TreoAlert and found the reg key for the operator banner.

Use a regedit tool and change this key to the text of your choice:
HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name

It will update the name, but I don't think it will stick following a reset.

If I ever get time to play in Visual Studio again, I might try to make a simple app to do quick edits on this key.

No fix because nothing is wrong. Did a little more research. It turns out that the "Carrier Name" is updated from the provider when your radio goes on. Thus, it's overwritten after a reset. It will also change when you roam and return from roaming.

Working on a script that you can put in your Startup folder. Stay tuned.

Well I went on line and got some gibbersih from on line chat support that theres nothing I can do eventually the sytem will talk with my treo and tell it its in the 21st century that cingularly att ir now only att and I wont see the cingular name on my screen just on the outside of the case along with the orange jack! When that communication will take place is anybodies guess! I am not holding my breath. I would have thought it would have occurred when Fort Smith got upgraded from edge to 3G about seven weks ago.
