button problem
My phone was working perfectly fine yesterday when the screen would not turn on. I took the battery out and when i put it back in, the screen said "erase all data?", which happens when a hard reset happens. i pressed down for no, not to erase the data, but then the screen just came back again. after awhile, after pressing both down and up multiple times, my phone turned on. now my phone, when the screen is turned off, the screen will randomly turn on. also, my power button doesn't work but it seems to be pushed down, which is why the screen keeps turning on. has anyone had this problem? should i call at&t about it or just buy a membrane and install it myself, hoping that's the problem?

welcome moballer1193 to ET. It sounds like somehow your phone was starting a hard reset like you say. Normally you have to be holding in the reset btton under the sd card flap and several other buttons which is hard to do even when you are trying to do it. If the green button appears to be pushed down it has somehow gotten stuck somehow and needs to be unstuck. You might try to take the back cover off there are several small screws which requitre a torx t5 screwdriver you can go get one at Radio Shack if you dont have one. There a video on taking the back off of a 650 the process is the same. I'll try to track that doen or you can google it. If you can get the back off and then lift the guts out of the front you should be able to get the keyboard readjusted where the power button is not sticking otherwise take it to ATT if its still under warranty they might replace it.

Definitely sounds like your issues are related to the stuck power button. Holding the power button while resetting will prompt for a hard reset. It must've taken the re-insertion of the battery as a reset.
I agree with JFA. If it's under warranty, let them replace it before you open it up and void it.
