Callers cannot hear me

Having a problem with Treo. When I receive a call the caller cannot hear me. I can hear them fine. I called Cingular and they said that this is a hardware problem and the phone would have to be replaced. Is this correct?

It sounds like your mic is having issues, which would probably be hardware.

Have you tried plugging in your headset or a BT headset?

Only software issue I'm aware of that affects sound is the WM5 sound driver bug. There is a patch for that from palm, but chances are if you just bought the device, you're already running WM6 which is already patched.

This is a replacement phone that I received about 3 months ago. I was having trouble with my phone which was still under warranty. Cingular sent this replacement. Had no problems until now. I am now out of my warranty. Looks like I will have to purchase a new phone. Any suggestions?
