Default Can not boot after hard reset

I'm stuck. My Treo 750 froze on me last week while I was returning from a business trip. I did a hard reset / erased all data and loaded all of my usual apps ( audible player / Tom Tom / Spb Pocket plus ) This reset came after I had to do the same thing 3 weeks ago. Yesterday the same thing occurred as we were driving up to visit family. This time however, I could not get the phone to reload after the hard reset. I researched the forum and found the Treo 750 2.25 SD Updater thread. I tried the SD boot method using only CHEEIMG.NBH and CHEEIMG.md5 files. No luck. I tried again with only the .NBH file. No luck. I had wm5 loaded previously. I'm at a point where I'm ready to ship this one back for a new 750. Any ideas prior to this final action?

Make sure the SD has been formatted in FAT32. Also, make sure you have only the cheeimg.nbh file (around 60MB or so).

If you extracted the file from an installer, then double check. In the installer there is a file labeled cheeimg_fw.nbh which is the actual ROM. Rename it to cheeimg.nbh and put in on the SD.

You can tell which one is the real rom by the file size.

Does it matter that I was running WM5 before the event? I tried this earlier and it would not move off the Palm splash screen. When it ask if you want to erase all data, I tried yes first and then no ( no effect). I'll try again.

Nope. Regardless of the OS, you should still be able to overwrite it using the bootloader and a ROM on an SD card.

Check your PMs. Just sent you the latest unbranded rom (2.27) with instructions.

    Good luck.

Thanks! However, I was on the road and did not have my SD reader with me. I decided to contact my IT group and have a new one sent to me. Have you heard of any compatitabilty issues with software that could cause this issue, or is it just hardware related?

It sounds like somehow your rom became corrupted. Who knows why. It could have even been a virus.

    Default having the same problem

    hi folks,

I'm having the same issue with a Palm Treo 750.
I've tried to do a hard reset for the third time and it just sits at the "Initialising your Treo device" screen.

I was wondering if I could get the latest firmware so I can give the SD card option a go, I have version 2.26.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim
