Can you help me change my alarm ringtone?
I love my Treo but can't stand the poor selection of alarm choices. I downloaded some new ringtones (mp3) and they show up in my ringtone selection list but not in my alarm choices. I can use them for individual contacts but not for my alarm. What am I doing wrong? thank you!

In Clocks and Alarms, click the little alarm bell next to the particular alarm to set the alert sound. The drop down box is populated from files in your Windows directory.
The files must be either .wav or .wma format. To add custom alarm sounds, convert your files to one of those formats and put a copy in your \Windows directory. Then they will be selectable in the drop down box.

So I created 2 ringtones, 1 in WAV and the other in WMA format and went into file explorer, found windows and dropped them both into the sea of other files.
After syncing my phone I can see them both on the list in windows.
When I go to my alarm ringtone list I can see only the WAV ringtone I created but not the WMA one. When I select it, the phone automatically changes it to 'default' not allowing me to use it.
I do feel like I'm one step closer! Can you help me solve this problem?
Thanks!

I assumed wma would work because if you look in the windows directory at the default alarm noises, some are wav and some are wma.
Even so, wav should be fine.
As for your issue with the device dropping back to default, windows may not like your sampling rate or bit sampling. Copy one of the default alarm waves over to your PC and open it up in a sound editor to examine it's properties. Resave your custom waves with the same format.
When in doubt, go low. 8 bit 8khz is not the best quality sound for music, but should be fine for an alarm tone.

Your suggestion worked perfectly, a million thanks. By the way, I saw the stopwatch available for download on your link (love it!) but when I tried to download it something called Winrar opened and I didn't know what to do.
Thanks again!

WM installers come in 2 flavors. The ones you run from your PC are .exe files and will install on your next sync. CAB files, on the other hand, must be executed from the device.
If you try to open a .cab on your PC, it will treat it as an archive file and winrar (if you have it installed) will attempt to handle it.
Save the file and copy it to your device. Then in file explorer on your Treo, click the .cab file to start the installer.
