Default Change Ringer

I have tried everything to change the ringer sound on my 750. It appears it has a mind of it's own. Has anyone else had this problem?

Not a lot of details to go on here.

Start > Settings > Sounds & Notifications > (notifications tab)

Set notification sounds for the following events:
Phone: Known Caller
Phone: Unknown Caller

It will let you choose from default system sounds and anything you have in your MyDocument\Ringtones folder.

Additionally, you can browse to a sound in FileExplorer and hold the stylus down on a sound file and it should give you the option to set it as the ringtone. If it's not already in your Ringtones folder, it will be copied there.

Hey,

I have tried that myself recently. I wanted to switch to a mp3 ringtone of the Dr. Who theme but now I can get NO ringtone to play when I try calling my phone from my home phone, but it does give off the missed call beep when I hang up. What am I doing wrong? Could SPB Phone Suite be causing this? I want to get this fixed quickly.

Thanks.

Try a different sound file and see if the ring comes back.

It could simply be that the MP3 you are using has too high a bitrate for playback. I usually reformat my ringtones to MONO with about a 30k bitrate since you can't tell a difference over the loudspeaker anyway. Plus it makes them MUCH smaller.

I tried that. I tried switching back to one of the included MID sound files, but nothing happened. I even tried changing the missed call notification to the Dr. Who file and as it turns out it works. Apparently the problem is related only to the known and missed caller settings. Anyone hear of this happening before?

Hold up Johnston. Before you go any further, are you still on WM5?

WM5 has a known sound bug that can cause random muting of alerts. If you're on WM5, load the audio patch from the Palm support site.

If you're not, then try a simple reboot if you haven't already.
