I recently got an unlocked cingular treo 750 and its great so far. my question is... how to change the cingular picture (logo saying hello/goodbye) when you turn the phone function to on/off? is it possible to show something else? thanks!
Thats builkt into the rom if you have a wm5 phone and upgrade to wm 6 with the at rom it will change to at. My device has the new rom but my phone still shows cingular for my service provider.
thanks for that tidbit I was not aware of that. Do you have any ideas about how to get my 750 to show att on the today screen and carrrier in the setting for the phone even though the att update is installed it shows cingular still. cingularly att CS says wait and it will eventually change but it hasn't for several months now. Its not that big of a deal but its kind of annoying.
That's updated by the carrier. Mine used to show Cingular, but now shows AT&T. I've played with scripts to change the text on my carrier line and it appears that the network updates that registry value (for the text) on a VERY regular basis.
Sounds like your towers haven't been updated yet for some reason.
On a side note a bit more "on topic", you can also update your welcome screen that you see at boot by replacing this file in your windows directory: welcomehead.96.png
I also changed the sounds for turning the radio on and off by replacing RadioOn.wav and RadioOff.wav. It's the little things that make you smile.
well if the towers that I use are the same ones my wife uses with her razr and my son's SE phone use the same toweers and they all say at and my phone says cingular it seems to me that the problem is somehow with my phone. But then I am trying to thonk logically.
Since it does seem like its a registry value can or should I go in to the registry and change the carrier to read ATT and if so how can I do it and what are the dangers in trying?
I wrote a small mortscript to put custom messages on this line. I ended up having to rewrite the reg value about every 10 seconds as the carrier would overwrite it every time I turned around.
If you're interested, here's the script. It's actually 2 tiny script files. Run UpdateName.mscr to input text and turn the updater on and off. The other will loop in the background.
Oh yeah, you'll need to install MortScript if you haven't already.
