Default Dialing Problem

When I dial a number that connects to an automated system that asks me to enter the letters of a person's name I have been unable to find any way to enter letters. Please help! Thanks

Well, you obviously can't use your keyboard to spell it as the system on the other end is looking for DTMF tones.

Use the on screen "dial pad". It displays the traditional phone dial pad with the letters associated with each number key just like on a regular touch tone phone.

I have been able to use the numbers on the keyboard to page people o n the cingularly att network where you have to push 5 to send a page and use the 7 and 9 to delete and save voice mail so I think that the keyboard is generating the correct tones for that purpose

On mine, the white keys on the keyboard corresponding to the dial pad also produce the tones, but you have to hold them for about a second. This works if you have the touch screen lock when the phone is active.

You guys are missing the point. Of course the numbers in the keypad make the tones too, but he needed to spell something out to an IVR or Voicemail system using touchtones.

To do that, you need to know what letter is associated with each number on a standard DTMF keypad. Hence, the need to use the on-screen dialpad (which displays the number keys with their letters just like a standard touch tone phone)
