Does anyone use Opera on their 750? - Treo Forums

I am trying to download Opera Mobile for my 750 but can't seem to get the download file to open. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue? Or, if you did what did you do to correct it?

how are you downloading it to desktop and then active sync or directly on your treo.?

I tried both ways but neither worked. First through the Treo, but the link to open the downloaded program was a blank page. Then I tried using active sync. I opened the treos folders through my desktop, saved it there. Though, when I clicked on the link using the desktop it ran the install to begin setup. Afterwards there was nothing on my treo except for the file for the install, the program was not installed. I clicked on the same file to install it directly within the treo and it says run the program first then use this file?
Sounds very confusing, I know. Anyone know of an easy route?

when using active syncyou may need to open the programs screen because it may tell you on the desktop to check on the device to see if additional steps are needed to complete the install and if I am not on that screen i cant see the message and usually that message is install on device or card and if you dont select it does not install.

Hmm, that still didn't work. I am more frustrated at this point than anythins else. I don't even care to run it now. I read some small print somewhere that said I would to first need to dowload a Java run time enviroment.

There was an article in another forum announcing a public beta of a new version of opera mobile for pocket pc

of the next version of its web browser for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones.
Possibly the biggest change is that the Pocket PC version now supports Macromedia Flash Player 7. Other changes in both versions include:

<LI nd="5">Web search in address bar <LI nd="6">Save image
Import IE bookmarks

Opera 8.65 Beta runs on Windows Mobile 2003 and above. It is available for free, but it expires on June 1.
It can be downloaded from the Opera web site.

Thanks for that information. Even if I don't go with that browser (only because at this point I think it's more trouble than it's worth) I am more than happy with the overall performance of my new treo. Its the phone I always wanted, and although one of the perks of having a phone like this should be be the ability to check your corporate email, I like just being able to to connect to the internet and have the organizer functionality.
So, if that means I need to leave work at work, then I don't that much I suppose. One day, all things... especially our electronics will work in sync with our lives

I've been running the Opera 8.65 beta for pocket pc's on the 750 just fine... excellent program and highly recommended.
