Exchange Server with Small Business 2003 - Treo Forums

Does anyone know how to setup an exchange server with Windows Small Business 2003 Server. I was told by my cable provider, "Cablevision of Long Island" needs to setup a Static IP address. Cablevision charges an additional $25 per month for the Static IP address! Is that correct or can this way be bypassed? My E-mail is already working on the exchange server!

There is away around having to use a static IP address.
Its called Dynamic DNS. I do mine through www.no-ip.com.

That explains a bit about what it is. Basically you will download a client on your server that reports your current IP to no-ip.com in this case. no-ip.com in return holds your dns records and updates them to reflect any change in your IP addy.

There are others and Im sure free ones, but from experience no-ip.com is very easy to use and effective.

however isnt this a Treo forum? lol

FYI, its possible that whoever holds your dns records can also offer this service...

I do have no-ip on my server. I'm surprised to hear this and my IT guys don't know how to do it? I will forward them the link, thanks!

doesn't sound like very good IT guy. Im located in Chicago should you ever have a problem

If you're already using a Dynamic DNS service and can't connect to your exchange server, then chances are your firewall/router is not forwarding the traffic from the mail ports to your exchange server.

Go smack your IT guy upside the head and tell him to get with it!

Most newer firewall/routers can even be configured to update your dynamic dns service automatically without the need for a client on any of your network PCs.
