Default Got it Yesterday - Here's What I Don't Know

I need to delete VITO Remote - deleted it in fileexplorer and i still see the stupid icon, although the program is gone. How do I clear the icon?

My voicemail icon has been on since I got the phone, even though I have no new voicemails - how do I get rid of this?

This is the biggest problem I am having - I am using this a modem for my laptop via PDANet. It will stay connected for roughly 10 mins before cutting out, then trying to reconnect it says it wasn't closed out properly so I have to do a reset - - then it works for ten minutes and does it all over again.

If someone could address these issues for me I'd really appreciate it. I know someone out there has a couple quick answers for me and I would love to hear them.

Other than that I am diggin the phone, although I enjoyed Palm Treo's far better - this will hopefully be easier to sync to my computers.

Travis

The normal way to delete an installed application is to go under Start>Settings>System>Remove Programs. This should do a proper uninstall and clean up the registry.

If you just want to wipe out the icon that appears in your Programs group, point your file explorer to Windows>Start Menu>Programs and delete the shortcut.

Voicemail icon should clear when it gets a signal from your carrier. Try leaving yourself a voicemail, then calling back in and checking it. That should force the signal to clear the notification. If it doesn't, then you may need to contact your carrier to ensure that the notification is properly enabled for voicemail.

I'm unfamiliar with PDAnet, but if you're running WM6 (or upgrade to it) it's a non-issue. All you have to do under WM6 is open "Internet Sharing", plug in your USB cable and click "connect". Your PC will automatically detect your Treo as a network device and you're free to browse the web.

NOTE: ATT/Cingular charges extra for a "tethered" data plan. However, if you upgrade with the Unbranded ROM you can still do it with a standard data plan. The thread for the unbranded WM6 rom (which will install on any brand treo) is over here: http://www.everythingtreo.com/forum/...isd-13690.html

Ummm. Okay - I tried that - but it gets disconnected by remote?

What settings do I need to have or do I need to deactivate or remove pdanet first before trying the WM6 internet sharing?

In ICS, you will should have multiple options in the drop down for network connection. Try them all. I have ATT and it lists: ICS, AT&T, Proxy.

Sometimes it will only connect using proxy, sometimes with AT&T. Don't know why. Others have also reported similarly. So far, one of them has always worked, it's just not always the same one.

I wouldn't think that you should have to uninstall PDAnet to make it work. When you enable Internet Sharing, it changes the presentation on the USB (or bluetooth) to a network connection.
