I’ll make another post that organizes the install instructions a lot better, but realize that this post has everything you need if you read the posts from the beginning.
Especially HP3’s post on the 2nd page. He makes an extremely important point that I tried to let people know earlier.
Make sure you’re PC is loaded with all the Treo drivers first (specifically the bootloader drivers), and then run the setup wizard.
Most people already have the standard Treo drivers installed, but listen up!
With your Treo 750 connected to the PC via the USB cable:
- Remove any miniSD card you may have inserted
- While holding the PTT / Side button, push the reset pin (under the miniSD card door)
- Allow the phone to load the bootloader into USB mode (you’ll see the text: ‘USB’ on the bottom of the screen)
- Wait for Windows to successfully install the new drivers
- Go into device manager and check to make sure you don’t have the Treo stuck in an Unknown Device state, if that’s the case you’ll need to double click the device and then click update drivers and allow Windows to install the drivers automatically (searching Windows update allowed)
- Once you are certain the drivers are ready to go, boot your phone back into a normal state and run the setup wizard
do you need to have Trueluck's bootloader file in addition to the unbranded WM6 CNG file?

Where am i able to download this unbranded rom?
I just bought an Unlocked AT&T Branded Treo 750 online and the internet is not working with my plan. I am hoping the rom is easy to install and will fix the internet problem. Could you please help?

Don't want to be a pessimist here, but as I read thru all the useful tips that everyone is posting, has anyone bricked their Treo while trying to run not only the unbranded but even the official WM6 updates? AND more importantly, how did you fix it and get it working again?
Since there is no way so far that I've read that you can reinstall WM5...
I'd say I'm pretty proficient with servicing my PC's and I've had instances where I'm installing something and something goes wrong and hangs mid-install or a machine just gets railed with some virus or spyware that I can't resolve and I can start from scratch and reinstall my entire OS. A pain, but fixable.
What happens if the update hangs or locks up in the middle and for some reason (usually panic) you "have to" reboot the entire PC and there isn't a complete useable OS on the treo??

Nope. Make sure you have ActiveSync loaded, connect your Treo, and run index.hta to start the upgrade wizard.
Bootloader method installs from an SD card. If you need to go that route (for instance, you don't have access to an XP machine with Activesync) look back at post #142.

If that happens, try copying the ROM to SD and use the bootloader method. See previous post.
I don't know of anyone who has bricked their device with the update.

Thanks again.
just in case, can you send a link for the bootloader file/method. Same address as my original PM to you.

there is a way to reinstall wm5 but you have to have the rom image for wm5 and install that the same way that wm6 was installed. Instructions or discussion is on xdadevelopers.com forum about wm6 and reverting to wm5. I'll try to look it up later today after I get out of court again.

Thanks, jfa.
I tried Googling for it, but didn't come up with anything useful. Look forward to your search.

I would just like to ask since i do a lot of travelling. . .
Can I connect to other 3g networks outside of AT&T and still enjoy using my laptop to access the web via tethering to the treo 750?
thanks again fastlerner
ATT plans are typically "no roaming charges". I would imagine that extends to data connectivity too. Haven't seen anything to the contrary.
