    Default Headset Adapter to use ipod earphones

    The Treo uses a 2.5mm plug. Most MP3 earphones use 3.5mm plugs. I went to Radio Shack and picked up an adapter to make the plug conversion so I can use my Ipod earphones to watch video on the Treo. When I plug it in, I can only hear one side, but if I unplug it and only plut it in about halfway and move the plug so it makes contact with the adapter's side walls, I can get it to play in both ears.

    What is wrong with the adapter that I got and is there any way to make it work? If not, is there a spec for a specific adapter that I need to get to work properly?

    Take the one from Radio Shack back and get one specifically made for the device so the depth of the jack itself makes good contact with both circuits. They aren't very expensive and there's lots of places to get them... here is one example:
