    Set up a POP or IMAP email account in Messaging on a Treo 700w or 700wx smartphone

    <DIV class=solutiontext>
    On a Treo 700w or 700wx smartphone, POP and IMAP email accounts are handled by the Messaging application.

    How do I know if my email account is POP or IMAP?
    Personal email usually falls under the POP or IMAP category. Examples of POP email accounts include Gmail, or mail from your home Internet service provider (such as EarthLink, SBC Yahoo! or Comcast). Some small businesses also use POP mail for their employees.
    In contrast, Exchange Server email uses a different protocol from POP or IMAP. Not sure which type of email you have? Contact your email service provider or your IT department.
    Note: Any email that you can get only from a webpage, such as Yahoo! standard email (not Yahoo! Mail Plus), is not POP email. You won't be able to view these emails in the Messaging application. Instead, go to the web browser.
