Default Interesting 750 Behaviors

Hi there,

I've had my 750 for about two weeks. So far, I'm pretty happy with it. There are a few quarks - wanted to see if anyone else is running into these...

1. I have a 1GB miniSD card installed. The Treo750 occasionally stops recognizing that the card is installed. I have to remove and re-insert the card and then it is recognized again. This does not seem to be linked to any event (powering off device, etc) - it happens randomly and about once per day.

2. I use the Treo750 to connect to our corporate outlook server and gmail. An application called "tmail.exe" crashes about once per day. It doesn't seem to have any lasting negative effect - I just have to clear the notice.

3. Once in a while, the battery goes from mostly full to < 10% in an instant - at this point, I begin getting endless messages saying that the battery is about to die. I have to take the battery out, put it back in and then it gets back its original mostly-full position.

Has anyone discovered any cures for these?

Thanks,
Dan

Welcome to ET d99n!. In answer to your querstions 1) I have a 2g sandisk minisd and have not noticed any similar behavior. It might a problem with the card or you might have some dirt or dust or something in the card slot that is interefeing with the contact points on the cardand the slot.
2) tmail.exe sounds like it could be a treo program treomail? but it could also have something to do with your corporatre email server program. Have you talked with your IT department or tech support about the issue?
3) I have not noticed this problem with my treo battery. Something is obviously causing the incorrect readings. Might it be happening ariound the time that the tmail.exe takes a siesta. Or it might be a bad battery. Or maybe that with the treo batteries used in the 680 and 750 being the same that we need a battery fix like the 680's did. Maybe Kevin from palm might be able to shed some light on that issue.

1) I, too, have a regular recurring problem with miniSD card recognition. I thought I was the only one! I have tried 2-3 different cards, all with the same results. To further provide background on this, I have used 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB cards, all with the same results.

2) Can't help you there. I've not experienced any problems "POP-ing" my mail. Are you accessing your mail via POP3 or Exchange?

3) I had this problem once...I am using a Boxwave 2400 mAh extended battery (actually, I have two - I switch them out every week - and they last a LONG time on full-charge). I have not had this problem since using the extended batteries and only once when using the OEM battery shipped with my 750.

I poked my nose around a little, and I believe 'tmail.exe' has something to do with a WebIS app called FlexMail. Do you use FlexMail? Apparently, this is a fairly common problem and WebIS has a 'fix' available on their website. If my memory serves me, there is also a native 'tmail.exe.' I'll keep poking my nose around.

Hi Everyone, thanks for the ideas and comments!

For #2 - I am connecting to a corporate Microsoft Outlook server via a web access portal (owa.servername.com) via ActiveSync over GPRS network.

For #3 - Thanks for the battery recommendation - I use this device very actively during the day for email and phone - by 6-7PM, I need to recharge. Definitely need to check out Boxwave. Does anyone else get the endless stream of "battery <10%" messages that keep reappearing after you dismiss when the battery gets low?

well if you are not where you can charge off your desktop or a wall charger check out the solio solar charger withwall charger capability at the ET store I am at my desk a lot during the day when not in court or out of office. I keep my 750 charged up and also have a car charger from my 650 which works and ausb to charge off my desktop at home. I have been thinking about getting a combo car charger/wall unit w/usb connector to use with my usb synch and charge as my car charger is wearing out and does not always work.
